The Pitta Woman: Fire + Water
The Pitta dosha is made up of the fire and water elements.
PITTA IS HOT, SHARP AND PENETRATING, LIKE FIRE. IT IS ALSO VOLATILE AND OILY WHICH RELATES TO THE SECONDARY COMPONENT OF WATER.
The Pitta woman tends to feel warm with somewhat oily skin, piercing eyes and sharp features. She has a moderate weight and good musculature. When out of balance, she may experience diarrhea, infections, skin rashes and weakness in the liver, spleen, and blood.
The Pitta woman is highly focused, competitive, capable, courageous, energetic and a clear communicator who gets straight to the point. She enjoys problem-solving and when under stress can dig in her stilettos. The Pitta woman can become overly intense or speak with a sharp tongue. She makes a great friend but a feared enemy. Emotionally, she is challenged by the heated emotions of anger, resentment and jealousy.
In order to bring balance to Pitta, your lifestyle should revolve around the opposing qualities of coolness, heaviness (nourishing) and dryness. Cool spices like fennel are recommended in the diet along with foods such as raw vegetables, cooked rice, wheat and beans. Sweet herbs like shatavari will nourish the body while bitters like dandelion root temper the fire. Aika’s Pitta Collection balances skin which can be both oily and dehydrated, sensitive and yet prone to cystic breakouts (pimples). This is the skin type that is often misdiagnosed as oily and if not treated gently will over time show the signs of extreme irritation and hypersensitivity.
On a subtle mental level, our world-class skincare products and rituals are designed to dissipate anger and stress and calm and cool the fiery soul.
